GEORGE JONES' LAST CHANCE

Country music legend George Jones received a special visitor on Christmas Day when fellow recording artist Ronnie McDowell showed up at his home in Franklin, Tenn., bearing the gift of a portrait – commissioned by Jones’ wife, Nancy – depicting his celebrated DUI arrest while operating a riding lawn mower. “I’m your biggest fan,” said McDowell, “I want to present this new painting to you: As a matter of fact, it’s my favorite painting I’ve ever done.” “Well, I love you for this,” said Jones, who has been referred to often as the greatest living country singer with more than 150 hits to his credit. “I’m telling you, that makes my Christmas day!” Jones told McDowell that he was honored that he had selected him as a subject for a painting. “I’m just going to be honest with you,” McDowell said. “What better subject could I have? “Well, you just did such a good story with the picture … of my old days,” said Jones.
